About Colby

Currently living in California,  I predominantly compose original marching and indoor shows, sold through my self-run website, ColbyJM Music. Beginning as a percussionist, I have spent several years playing and arranging for majority of all percussion instruments including battery, mallet percussion, auxiliary percussion, guitars and keyboards. On top of that, I have additional experience playing wind instruments such as mellophone, trumpet, clarinet, and tenor saxophone.

I've been into writing music since the spring of 2019. I've written percussion parts for the high school I marched with such as sections of marching shows, cadences, and warm-ups. I've been the battery section leader since the winter of my freshman year of high school, and the percussion section leader since the start of my junior year of high school. 

I have two years of experience making commissions for clients. I make full band arrangements and percussion arrangements. Some commissions include adding percussion parts to shows with only winds written, making original full percussion arrangements, writing full wind and percussion pieces, rewriting single instruments, and transcriptions. I have received all 5-star reviews through these commissions.
